Introducing a new generation single column high precision materials testing machine, the LS1 is designed to measure forces up to 1kN (225lbf) Ideal for routine quality control testing or complex multi-stage tests, this versatile material tester can perform a wide library of tests including tensile strength, compression, flexural, peel, shear, static and kinetic coefficient of friction and many more across many industries.

LS1 machine features include:

Ideal for routine quality control testing or complex multi-stage tests, all machines can perform tensile, compression, flexural, peel, shear, friction tests and many more. Flexible, simple to use and maintain, they provide high accuracy load measurement and are capable of a rapid 8 kHz data acquisition rate. The stand alone system can store up to 600 test results from 10 programmable test set-ups or, with PC integration with Lloyd Instruments powerful NEXYGENPlus material test and data analysis software, can perform advanced data analysis.

Texture Analyser
Texture Analyser for Food Testing Applications
The TAPlus texture analyser is a cost effective, easy to use solution for performing rapid, detailed texture analysis tests on applications up to 102 kgf (1 kN, 225 lbf). The machine uses interchangeable XLC Series load cells as the measurement device. Tension and compression testing with cycling to load and extension limits are standard features. The machine can be fitted with a selection of specially engineered food texture fixtures, jigs and probes, as well as a range of multi-purpose grips for general applications such as evaluating the strength and integrity of food packaging.

Coefficient of Sliding Friction Fixture

This fixture consists of a horizontal flat bed incorporating a sled. The underside of the sled has a layer of smooth-faced foam rubber.


Used to determine the static and kinetic coefficients of friction of plastic film and paper when sliding the specimen over itself under controlled test conditions. A sheet of the specimen is secured to a horizontal bed and another sample of the specimen is drawn across the test bed specimen. This measures the force required to overcome the frictional resistance between the two imposed surfaces, when one surface is moved relative to the other along their plane of contact. The static coefficient of friction is determined by the force required to overcome the initial resistance between the two surfaces. The kinetic coefficient of friction is determined from the subsequent force when continuously sliding at a constant rate.
